LETS NOT BE LIKE RABBITS

One thing we as a nation have common with rabbits apart from our propensity to contribute significantly in the population explosion of the planet is the our desire to jump start everything. We want to jump start the economy, the democracy, the infrastructure improvement and our sports performance in the world arena.
I too have been guilty of such thinking in the past. However like many fellow countrymen I have also started having second thoughts. The idea that in the real life there are really no short cuts and that this would also apply to the history and the learning curve of a nation has finally germinated in my mind.

While trying to jump start the system by letting the military intervene we have already done ourselves more harm than good. During the entire 64 years of our country's existence we have had only one genuine democracy. That was the government of ZAB and see what he got us. Yes it was not all good governance. But it was a start.
Now we are in a situation where people are constantly bad mouthing the government in power. They are no angels. But then this is a start for democracy. Lets give democracy a chance.

Look at what has been achieved by the new Public  Accounts Committee. The Committee comprises of people from the opposition and people from the government in power. The head of the committee is Ch. Nisar. So this is a start.
Look at the 19th amendment. By virtue of this amendment the provinces will eventually get the autonomy that they have been asking for. This is really a milestone in the history of Pakistan.

Look at the legislation regarding appointment of judges. Somehow the powers that be want to make a mockery of the legislation pertaining to appointment of new judges. But these things will work out in the long run. By virtue of this piece of legislation we have ensured that the judiciary is not partisan. I think that is a big achievement for any country.

The need of the hour is that people should stop cribbing an spreading obscure rumors which cannot be verified and put their head downs and get to work.

Previously I used to talk of spreading obscure rumors. Now the media is spreading white lies with impunity. Look at the list of awards announced on the occasion of the Independece day. The media is crying itself hoarse over the list. Apparently they know full well that no one is reading the whole list. So they can say anything about the list and get away with it. If you read the list then almost a third of it comprises of people who have done something significant in their field. The names of their fields have also been mentioned. These are professors and researchers.
Then 20% of the list comprises of privates from the levies who died in Khyber Pakhtoon Province. They have no ranks so only names have been mentioned.
About a third are people who have excelled in some field like actors, musicians and social workers.

So what are they are clamouring about. Then again in order to be more convincing they have to compare this list with some previous governments list. Which obviously they have not done for that would take the sting out of the entire scoop.

Why do they not compare it to past lists ? Why do they raise a hue and cry as if these are personal friends of the PM and the President ? These are people who are noted in their fields.

Can anyone guess what is the motivation for bad mouthing the government for no apparent reason ?
